“ Color Blind “

The project, “Colorblind”, I am currently working on will be shot entirely in black and white film. The purpose of this project is to challenge the notion of those individuals who claim to be “colorblind” to skin tone and address the damaging effects of this mentality. The idea that individuals claim to not see color is a subtle but unacceptable form of racism. It is important to recognize and appreciate our differences, including our hair, melanin, and culture rather than dismissing them.

We want to promote a society where individuals of color are not subject to negative biases or stereotypes. For example, we do not want to be followed around in stores, mistaken for suspicious individuals, or discriminated against because of our pigment, hair, piercings, or tattoos. This project aims to challenge these prejudices by showcasing a diverse range of skin tones in a black and white format. It is a testament to the fact that even without color, beauty and diversity can still be perceived.

Life is not as simple as black and white, and even in a monochromatic photo, there are nuances of gray. We hope to capture these nuances and showcase the beauty of diversity in our society. This project is a celebration of people of color, their heritage, and their contribution to our society. We hope that it inspires others to be proud of their identity and stand up against prejudice and hate.
